Ein sehr delikater Auftrag : Lustspiel in 1 Akt, ca. 1884-1895.

The German play is adapted from the French play Chez une petite dame, by Monnier and Martin. The file contains materials related to rehearsal and performance, including a published copy (Berlin: Eduard Bloch, 1884; Eduard Bloch's Theater-Correspondenz Nr. 12, second edition), which has been annotated as a prompt-book; and three handwritten role books, for all three roles in the play: Frau von Chatenay; von Tourné; and Mariette, Kammermädchen. On the inside back cover of the published copy a list of props is written by hand. The published copy and two of the role books are labeled as the property of Theodor Bloch, who ran a theater lending library in Philadelphia. The names written on the role books for the two female roles are recognizable from cast listings of other German-language plays in Philadelphia in the late 1880s to early 1890s. See the index in the collection's register for details about a related theater newspaper in folder 708, and playbill in folder 686.
